Korean stars Kim Myung-soo, Choi Bo-min to visit PH in December

South Korean stars Kim Myung-soo and Choi Bo-min are heading to the Philippines in December as part of a campaign to promote the country as a tourism spot during the winter, Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) said Monday.

In a statement, the TPB announced an initiative to promote the country as a winter destination, targeting South Koreans seeking sunshine while their home country experiences the cold season.

The campaign features a golf and wellness tour package, and seeks to maintain strong tourist arrivals from South Korea — the Philippines’ top source market — by highlighting activities that align with Korean travelers’ preferences for active, nature-based, and wellness-focused experiences.

As part of the campaign, K-pop idols-turned-K-drama stars Myung-soo and Bo-min, both signed with Universal Records Philippines, will visit the country to experience the attractions firsthand.

“Through these campaigns, we’re showing that the Philippines can be a winter destination that feels both familiar and new to Korean travelers,” said TPB chief operating officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles.

Myung-soo, also known by the stage name L, rose to fame as a member of the K-pop boy group Infinite, known for hits such as “BTD (Before the Dawn),” “Be Mine” and “The Chaser.”

Myung-soo, who commands 3.5 million Instagram followers, has also gained popularity as an actor, starring in dramas such as “Ms. Hammurabi,” “Royal Secret Agent” and “Numbers.”

Meanwhile, Bo-min also began his career in K-pop, debuting in 2017 with the group Golden Child, which was also created by the same label that formed Infinite. He left the band in 2024.

Bo-min has also ventured into acting, appearing in series such as “A-Teen 2,” “18 Again” and most recently “Spirit Fingers.” He also starred in the Philippine drama “Beauty Empire” alongside Barbie Forteza.
